Photomontage

Photo-montage is the practice of combining multiple photographs to create a new image with new meaning. It’s a practice as old as photography itself but which saw particular use at the start of the twentieth century when it was an important medium in the ideological conflict between fascism and communism. The great strength of photo-montage lies in it’s ability to reveal the invisible through contrasts and juxtapositions. My montages were made for a variety of purposes, in response to specific campaigns, commissions and requests, and sometimes simply to illustrate a point I felt strongly about.
