Writing

Writing has been an integral part of my practice since I first began engaging with the photography. Between 2012 and 2022 I published Disphotic, a blog about photography and visual culture and its intersections with journalism, art, history and technology.

During that time I was also commissioned to contribute essays to accompany photographer’s books and exhibitions, and for publications including World Press Photo Witness, The Art Newspaper, 1000 Words Magazine, The British Journal of Photography, Huck Magazine, Photomonitor, Hyperallergic, Reading the Pictures, Hotshoe, Burlington Magazine, The Photographers Gallery Blog, B&W Photography Magazine, and C4 Journal.

Writing has also become an increasingly important element of my photographic projects, and in 2022 I decided to stop writing about other people’s work in order to focus more on my own projects and research. I now only take on new writing commissions infrequently. An index of my writing prior to then can be found here, I am currently in the process of rewriting some of my older texts into a collected volume.
