The first exhibition of The Memory of History was held 17 – 26 September 2014 at 12 Star Gallery, London.

The Memory of History examines the role of the past in shaping the recent European recession and currency crisis. Photographed across ten European Union countries in 2012, The Memory of History seeks to reveal how economic hardship and uncertainty resulted in the re-emergence of difficult narratives of the past, narratives of disunity and division with the potential to threaten the continent’s future.

This exhibition is the first dedicated to The Memory of History and consists of twenty prints from the series of fifty. A new edition of the photobook of the project will accompanied the exhibition, updated to reflect events which have occurred since it was first published in 2012. The exhibition will also mark the tenth anniversary of the 2004 expansion of the European Union.
